Saving AR State Butterfly

OUR PURPOSE: Utilize conservation education and citizen science to minimize challenges to

Arkansas’ State Butterfly, Diana Fritillary (Argynnis diana).

OUR GOALS:

1. Create public awareness regarding creation and protection of habitat, the importance of providing ​essential native plant nectar (May-Oct) and the need for responsible pesticide and herbicide use.
   
2. Encourage Arkansans and visitors to become Citizen Scientists, posting sighting photos of pollinators ​to www.inaturalist.org which is critical for providing decision makers much needed data.
   

The most important things you can do right now?

• Leave the leaves and keep them chemical free from ​September to May
• Plant native plants and protect your violets
• Join iNaturalist and share your photos of butterflies!
• Create awareness by listening to our story from KUAF Ozarks ​at Large here and share it with others!
